Publicado el June 10, 2026Por , asesor de seguros

Sanitas offers two dental insurance plans, and our office works with both. They share the same quality network of dentists, but Dental Premium expands the treatments included at no extra cost and raises the monthly price compared with Dental Milenium. In this guide we compare price, treatments included, and deductibles between the two plans, and answer the questions we get asked most about waiting periods, health questionnaires, and the clinic network before you choose.

What's included at zero cost before we even get to deductibles?

The logic behind both plans is the same: all prevention and diagnostics are included at zero cost, and a deductible only comes into play once there's an actual restorative treatment. In Dental Milenium that means more than 40 procedures included: the annual dental cleaning, all check-ups with diagnosis, intraoral X-rays and the panoramic X-ray, simple extractions with follow-up care, 24-hour dental emergencies, and, for children, fluoride treatments and sealants. The orthodontics assessment and the implant assessment are also free, something a private clinic usually charges for separately. Dental Premium starts from that same base and expands it to more than 50 procedures at no cost. When it's time to pay — a filling, a root canal, an implant — the deductibles come at a fixed price, up to 40% below the average private price. At our office we hand you the full list of procedures for each plan before you sign up.

Where do you really notice the savings?

The insurance really pays for itself on the long, expensive treatments: orthodontics with braces or aligners, or an implant with its crown. There, the deductibles — up to 40% below the average private clinic price — can add up to savings that outweigh several years of premiums, whether you're on Milenium (€12.90/month per adult) or Premium (€20.00/month). One detail clients really value: the price is agreed in writing before treatment starts, so there are no add-on charges halfway through, unless you choose higher-grade materials, which are quoted separately. And since the orthodontics assessment and the implant assessment are included at no cost on both plans, you can get your discounted quote at the Milenium clinic for free, take it home, and compare it calmly with any private clinic's quote before deciding.

If I sign up today, when can I start using it?

As soon as tomorrow, on either plan: neither Dental Milenium nor Dental Premium has waiting periods or a health questionnaire, so you can book your annual cleaning, ask for a check-up with X-rays, or go in for an emergency appointment for pain from day one of the policy. There are no questions about the state of your mouth and no exclusions based on your dental history, unlike general health insurance policies, which do require a questionnaire and can apply exclusions. The one reasonable exception: treatments already started at another clinic before the policy's effective date aren't covered — in other words, you can't start orthodontic treatment on your own and then transfer it over at the discounted price. There's no minimum term beyond the policy's natural annual period, so choosing between Milenium and Premium doesn't lock you in long-term either: if your situation changes, you can switch plans at renewal.

Does it matter which plan I choose to use the Majadahonda clinic?

No, the network is exactly the same on both plans: the Dental Milenium Clinic in Majadahonda, just a few minutes from our office on Calle Santiago Apóstol, plus the more than 180 own clinics across Spain, backed by an affiliated network for areas without a dedicated center. The difference between Milenium and Premium is in how many procedures are included at no cost, never in which clinics you can visit or the quality of the center treating you. Because they're Sanitas' own clinics rather than an affiliated list that changes every year, clinical criteria and discounted pricing are consistent across the whole network, and your clinical record is unified: you can have your check-up in Majadahonda and continue treatment near your workplace in central Madrid, or move to a new city without starting over. Tell us where you live and work, and we'll point you to the Milenium clinics that suit you best.

Can both plans be taken out on their own, without anything else?

Yes, both Dental Milenium and Dental Premium can be taken out completely independently: you don't need to have health insurance, from Sanitas or anyone else. This is the usual choice for people who already have their medical care sorted — through the public health system or an employer policy — and just want to sort out the dentist, which is exactly what the public system barely covers. Prices are the same whether you take the plan on its own or as an add-on: €12.90/month per adult and €9.90/month per child under 15 on Milenium, €20.00/month per person on Premium. If you also have, or plan to take out, the Sanitas Más Salud health plan, you can bundle the dental coverage into the same policy, with a single bill and a single point of management; most health plans already include basic dental coverage, which either of these two plans expands on. The calculator on this page can simulate both scenarios.

For children, does Milenium or Premium work out better?

For children, the decision usually starts with Milenium, because the €9.90/month child rate already includes what makes the biggest difference at that age: regular check-ups, fluoride treatments, and sealants — in other words, all the prevention that shapes adult dental health. The critical moment for the family budget is orthodontics, which usually comes up between ages 8 and 14 and can cost several thousand euros at a private clinic: there, both plans apply the same deductible, up to 40% below the average private price and with the price fixed in writing, so Premium doesn't offer any extra advantage on the expensive treatment. Premium only pays off for children if you expect to make frequent use of the extra procedures it includes. Our practical recommendation: start with the check-up and the orthodontics assessment, both included free on either plan, and decide once you have the diagnosis and quote in front of you.

Do I need to fill in a health questionnaire to take out dental coverage?

No. Neither Dental Milenium nor Dental Premium requires a health questionnaire to sign up, unlike other types of insurance where declaring pre-existing conditions can lead to exclusions or surcharges. Here you sign up directly and, other than treatments already under way at another clinic before the policy's effective date — for example, orthodontic treatment that's already halfway through — you can start using the cover from day one, with no waiting period at all. This makes the sign-up process much faster than for health insurance, which does require a questionnaire: for dental coverage, you simply choose the plan, list the people to be insured, and sign. It's one of the reasons many people take out dental coverage first, as a stand-alone add-on, before deciding on a full health insurance policy.

How many Dental Milenium clinics are there in Spain?

More than 180 own Dental Milenium clinics across Spain, including one in Majadahonda just a few minutes from our office, plus an additional affiliated network for areas without a dedicated center. This matters if you move to a new city, travel frequently for work, or have children studying in another province: you get exactly the same discounted prices and the same centralized clinical record at any clinic in the network, not just the one nearest your current home. The advantage of them being the company's own clinics, rather than just an affiliated list that changes every year as happens with some insurers, is that clinical criteria and discounted pricing stay consistent across the whole network, so there are no pricing surprises if you switch clinics within the Milenium group.

Can I take out dental coverage if my health insurance is with another insurer?

Yes. Dental Milenium and Dental Premium can be taken out individually and independently of your health insurance, whether that's with Sanitas or any other insurer, precisely because many people already have medical insurance that doesn't include good dental coverage and want to add it on without switching their main insurer. You don't need to show proof of, or cancel, any other policy to sign up for dental coverage. That said, if you also have, or decide to take out, the Sanitas Más Salud health plan, you can add dental coverage as an extra within the same policy instead of managing it separately, which simplifies billing and payment, although the price of the dental coverage is the same whether taken alone or as an add-on. The calculator on this page lets you simulate both scenarios to compare.

What's the exact price difference between Milenium and Premium?

Dental Milenium costs €12.90/month per adult and €9.90/month per child under 15, with that reduced child rate designed for families with several children. Dental Premium, on the other hand, has a single price of €20.00/month per person, with no distinction between adults and children, in exchange for a longer list of treatments included at no extra cost. It's worth weighing the monthly difference between the two (€7.10 more for adults, €10.10 more for children) against how many extra treatments you'll actually need: if your family only needs check-ups, cleanings, and the occasional emergency visit, Milenium tends to be enough; if you expect more complex treatments fairly often, Premium's higher price pays for itself quickly thanks to the extra procedures it includes. Ask us at the office and we'll help you estimate which one works out better for your situation.

How many treatments are included free on each plan?

Dental Milenium includes more than 40 procedures at no extra cost: annual dental cleanings, all check-ups and diagnostics, X-rays (including the panoramic X-ray), simple extractions, post-operative follow-up care, 24-hour emergencies, and, for children, fluoride treatments and sealants too. Dental Premium expands that list to more than 50 procedures included at no cost, covering prevention and diagnostics even more thoroughly. On both plans, once treatment goes beyond what's included free — orthodontics, implants, crowns, or dentures — the same deductibles apply, up to 40% below the average private clinic price, with the price fixed in writing before any treatment begins. The real difference between the plans is mainly in how much prevention and diagnostic care is included free from day one, rather than in the discount on the more expensive treatments, which is the same on both.
