Why not just any insurance will do for your visa
It's the costliest mistake we see: submitting travel insurance or a policy with copays, only to be rejected months later. This table sums up what Immigration requires and what each type of insurance actually meets.

Common questions
Direct answers, the same we give at the office.
Can I file a single insurance policy for the whole reunited family?
No. The rule the immigration authorities apply is one policy per person: each reunited member — partner, children or other relatives included in the application — must prove their own insurance with the same requirements as the sponsor: full coverage, no copays, no waiting periods and repatriation included. A generic «family» policy from another insurer that does not break down each person's individual coverage usually triggers a request to complete the documents. What you can do — and what we arrange at the office — is enrol all the members in the same contract, with an individual official certificate for each of them.
Is there a discount if I take out the whole family's insurance together?
Yes. Although each person needs their own policy, enrolling the whole family in the same contract lets you apply the multi-insured discount included in Sanitas's official prices: between 5% and 8% depending on the number of people. Also, by taking out the policies together, all the expiry dates fall on the same day, so in the following years you only get one renewal notice for the whole household instead of separate dates for each person. The calculator on this page applies the discount automatically according to the people you add.
How much does the insurance cost for each reunited person?
From €67.76/month per person, with the multi-insured discount applied if the policy is taken out together with the rest of the family. The exact price of each policy depends on each member's age and the declared residential postcode. The calculator on this page lets you add every family member in the application and see the breakdown and the combined total without giving any personal details.
How long does it take to get the certificates for all the family members?
Each certificate is issued in under 24 hours from taking out the policy, guaranteed, regardless of whether several people are enrolled at once: you will receive an individual PDF signed by Sanitas for each member of the application, stating expressly full coverage, no copays, no waiting periods and repatriation included. If any detail on any of the certificates has a typo, it is corrected and reissued immediately without affecting the rest of the family.
Is each person's annual premium paid separately?
In the first year, yes: each policy carries its own annual premium paid in advance, because it is a requirement of the procedure — proving full coverage for the twelve months of each reunited person — not a commercial condition of Sanitas. At the office we prepare a joint quote for the whole family so you can see the total at once, although each receipt is issued individually together with the corresponding certificate. At renewal, if a member's situation no longer requires the annual premium paid in advance, you can ask about switching that specific person to instalments.
Are each family member's NIE renewals handled separately?
The insurance renews every year for each person, and since everyone was enrolled together, the expiry dates are aligned: the office sends a reminder well ahead of that common date, so the renewal of every member's insurance is ready before each person's NIE or TIE renewal appointment. This avoids the most common scenario when each relative took out insurance on their own on different dates: losing track of one person's expiry and ending up without valid coverage just before an appointment.
