What lies behind each figure

The table answers how much. Here is what each number changes in the day-to-day life of the policyholder, with the same approach: each figure with its date.

261 hospitals and more than 59,000 professionals: what counts is what you have nearby

Almost every week someone asks us the same thing in different words: “I'm moving to Valencia, will I have Sanitas doctors there?”. According to Sanitas's information (September 2026), its medical network comprises 261 hospitals and more than 59,000 health professionals across Spain, with the country's reference hospitals included. Over the last year it has added professionals and centres. On its website, Sanitas today speaks of more than 4,500 own and partner centres (sanitas.es, October 2026). It is a network that moves, and that is why every figure on this page carries its date.

But what is useful is not the total, it is what you have twenty minutes from home. Before you sign up we look at the medical network with you by postcode: which hospital you would go to in an emergency, which centre has the specialty you use most and whether your usual paediatrician is in it. For example, from the Majadahonda office La Zarzuela (in Aravaca) is very close, and La Moraleja (in Sanchinarro) is reached via the M-40. If you live in another province we do the same remotely by video call or phone and send you the medical network for your area on WhatsApp.

The own network: 5 hospitals, dozens of medical centres and a central laboratory

In addition to the partner network, Sanitas has centres of its own, reserved for its clients. As of September 2026 there are 5 hospitals: La Zarzuela, La Moraleja, Virgen del Mar and Blua Valdebebas in Madrid, and CIMA in Barcelona. Blua Valdebebas is the newest: it opened in June 2025. According to Sanitas's results release (9 April 2026), at the end of 2025 the own network also included 31 multi-specialty medical centres and 25 advanced rehabilitation centres, with six new medical centres opened that year. The 2025 and 2026 openings bring new medical centres to Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Córdoba, A Coruña and Palma de Mallorca (Sanitas's information of September 2026). The network is completed by the Mindplace units for mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Less visible is the central laboratory, where Sanitas brings together the tests from its medical centres and hospitals: it processes more than 4,500 tests a day, from biochemistry and haematology to microbiology or genetics (Sanitas's information of September 2026). You then download the results of your clinical tests in Mi Sanitas, in the app or on the website. And the own network will keep growing: the three hospitals Sanitas has announced through 2029 (Marina in Barcelona, Arganzuela in Madrid and Portitxol in Palma) are covered in our guide to Sanitas's own hospitals.

More than 2.6 million health clients and 153 offices to serve them

Sanitas has more than 2.6 million clients with health insurance (September 2026) and has spent more than 70 years devoted solely to health. It serves them in 153 offices spread across every province and with a customer service open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, through digital channels and by phone. That service is ISO 9001 certified by AENOR. Behind it is a large company: according to its results release (9 April 2026), in 2025 Sanitas had a turnover of €3,228 million (12% more than the previous year), ended the year with more than 12,450 people on its workforce and took on 730 doctors.

Some people sort everything out in the app and others prefer to sit down in front of someone. That is what the offices are for. Ours is Oficina Sanitas Majadahonda, an exclusive Sanitas agency at Calle Santiago Apóstol 5 (Majadahonda, Community of Madrid). It is the only Sanitas office in Spain that serves clients in 8 languages (sanitas.es office finder, 6 October 2026). There we unblock what gets most complicated: an authorisation, a bill that doesn't add up or adding a newborn to the policy. The policy, the cover and the rates are Sanitas's; what we add is that the same person is always on the other end: at the office from Monday to Friday, and by WhatsApp, email and video call every day.

What clients think: an NPS of 77.4 as of June 2026

The NPS measures whether clients would recommend Sanitas with a single question, scored from 0 to 10: how likely you are to recommend it to a relative or a friend. Anyone who answers 9 or 10 is a promoter and anyone who answers 0 to 6 is a detractor. The index subtracts the percentage of the latter from that of the former, on a scale of -100 to 100. Sanitas's overall NPS over the twelve months to June 2026 stands at 77.4 (4.2 points more than a year earlier).

Behind it there is less visible work. When someone gives a low score, Sanitas's customer service calls them to understand what happened and improve it. Employees also collect clients' opinions anonymously in an internal listening app: in 2025 there were more than 93,200 listening reports and more than 53,800 improvement proposals. At the office we do it on a small scale. We have 430 Google reviews with an average rating of 5.0 (sanitas.es office finder, 16 October 2026), more than any other Sanitas office in Spain. If something goes wrong, we would rather you tell us so we can fix it with Sanitas.

Digital health: 1.1 million remote consultations in 2025

It is ten at night, your daughter has a fever and you don't know whether you need to leave the house. For questions that can be resolved without going to a centre, Sanitas has video consultation in the Mi Sanitas app, and its use keeps growing. According to its results release (9 April 2026), 1.1 million digital consultations took place in 2025 (26% more than the previous year) and there have been more than 5 million since 2016. That year, 1.3 million clients used Blua, Sanitas's digital health service. And as of September 2026, 3,600 of the professionals in its medical network see patients by video consultation, in more than 36 specialties.

Digital goes beyond video. SanIa (Sanitas's virtual assistant) already manages appointments at its medical centres and dental clinics and helps rebook those that are cancelled. In October 2026 Chequea tu salud adds an eye test in the app to those already done from your phone, such as the hearing, heart or skin tests. And in prevention, as of April 2026 Sanitas had sequenced the genome of more than 9,500 people. Which services your policy includes depends on the plan: we confirm it with yours in front of us. The detail of each service is in our guide to Blua.

Sanitas Dental: 226 clinics open at the end of 2025

Dental is the company's other big pillar: Sanitas Dental has more than 2.7 million insured (September 2026). Its network closed 2025 with 226 clinics open, including Clínicas Dentales Sanitas, Sanitas clinics in El Corte Inglés and dental units. In 2026 it keeps growing, with openings already completed, more than ten planned and expansions at key clinics to gain capacity.

In the surgery you notice it in the intraoral scanner (all the clinics have one), in digital diagnosis and treatment planning, in detailed quotes and in a clinical record shared across the whole network. That is why any clinic knows your history. In the Mi Sanitas app there is also a digital dental check: a questionnaire of under five minutes that gives you a first assessment of your mouth, recommendations and the option to book an appointment. What is included at no cost and what comes at a deductible price depends on your plan; if you are torn between Dental Milenium and Dental Premium, we explain it in another guide on the blog.

Sanitas Mayores: 46 care homes with places for 6,000 people and 22 day centres

When a client calls us because their mother can no longer live alone, the conversation stops being about insurance and becomes about care. That is what Sanitas Mayores is for: as of September 2026 it has 46 care homes with capacity for 6,000 residents, 22 day centres and home care across mainland Spain. It offers permanent or temporary stays, with teams specialised in dementia and in physical and cognitive rehabilitation.

For those who prefer to stay at home there is Blua Senior, home care for older people. It has physiotherapists, psychologists, speech therapists, geriatric care assistants and nursing, as well as help with applying under the dependency law (ley de dependencia). With Blua Senior, the family follows the personal health plan and the reports from an app; in care homes and day centres, the Sanitas Mayores app also shows the medication schedule, the menu and the scheduled activities. It is a different service from health insurance and is taken out separately; if you are at that point with a family member, tell us and we will tell you where to start.

Sustainability and Fundación Sanitas: Net Zero by 2040 and 1% of profit

Sanitas began cutting emissions in 2009. Its direct emissions and those from the energy it buys have fallen by almost 80% since then (Sanitas's information of September 2026). In 2021 it set the goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2040 (indirect emissions included), with targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative together with Bupa, its parent group. Its electricity in Spain and Portugal is 100% renewable. Hospital Blua Sanitas Valdebebas emits 94% less CO₂ than the average of Spanish hospitals with published data, as the company announced on 22 October 2025. In 2023 La Zarzuela, La Moraleja, Virgen del Mar and CIMA stopped using nitrous oxide and desflurane, two very common anaesthetic gases, in their operating theatres. This avoids around 1,000 tonnes of CO₂ a year.

On the social side, Sanitas commits to devoting at least 1% of its profit each year to community projects. Added to that commitment is Fundación Sanitas, created in 1996. Through its Solidaridad en Acción programme, more than 300 professionals from 19 specialties have donated more than 2,600 hours. Together with their partners in the social sector, they have helped more than 125,000 people with projects in 14 countries, Spain included. The Foundation has promoted inclusive sport since 2008 and awards the Premios Sanitas MIR (since 1996) and EIR (since 2022), with €15,000 for each winner.

Sanitas figures compiled by Oficina Sanitas Majadahonda and reviewed on 13 October 2026 from Sanitas's information for the 2027 renewal campaign (September 2026), its results release of 9 April 2026 and its public pages linked at the end; the office's reviews and languages come from the sanitas.es office finder (16 and 6 October 2026). Each figure carries the date it refers to: we do not add up or compare figures from different dates. What your policy covers is what its general conditions say, not this page. Common questions

Direct answers, the same we give at the office.

How many hospitals, centres and professionals does Sanitas have in 2026?

According to Sanitas's information for the 2027 renewal campaign (September 2026), its medical network comprises 261 hospitals and more than 59,000 health professionals across Spain, own and partner combined. On its website (sanitas.es) Sanitas speaks of more than 4,500 own and partner centres (consulted in October 2026). Of those hospitals, five belong to Sanitas itself: La Zarzuela, La Moraleja, Virgen del Mar and Blua Valdebebas in Madrid, and CIMA in Barcelona. Which centres are near you depends on your postcode: we look it up for you and send you the medical network for your area on WhatsApp.

How many clients does Sanitas have?

According to Sanitas's information for the 2027 renewal campaign (September 2026), it has more than 2.6 million clients with health insurance and more than 2.7 million insured in Sanitas Dental. They are two different figures (one for health and one for dental) and it is best not to add them up, because the same person can have both policies. To serve them, Sanitas has 153 offices in every province and a customer service open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

What is Sanitas's NPS and how high is it?

The NPS (Net Promoter Score) measures whether clients would recommend a company with a single question, scored from 0 to 10: how likely you are to recommend it to a relative or a friend. The index subtracts the percentage of detractors (those who answer 0 to 6) from that of promoters (those who answer 9 or 10). According to Sanitas's information (September 2026), its overall NPS over the twelve months to June 2026 is 77.4 (4.2 points more than a year earlier).

Why do I find different Sanitas figures depending on where I look?

Almost always because of the date or what is being counted. Sanitas's network adds centres and professionals every year, so a 2025 page and a 2026 page will give different numbers and both can be correct at their time. And the full medical network (with the partner centres) is not the same as Sanitas's own network, nor are health clients the same as dental insured. That is why on our Sanitas in figures page every figure carries its date and its scope, and we never add up figures from two different moments. If you see another figure and have doubts, ask us and we will tell you when each one is from.

Do these Sanitas figures change what my policy covers or what I pay?

Not directly. They are company figures: what your Sanitas policy covers is in its general conditions and your particular conditions, and what you pay depends on your plan, your age and your province. The new cover Sanitas has announced for 2027 only applies if it appears in the most up-to-date version of your policy's general conditions, within its limits and exclusions; we explain it in our article on the new cover. Your exact price comes from the calculator on this website with your age and your postcode, or by working it out with us.

Do I get the same services if I take out Sanitas through your office rather than directly with the company?

Yes. The policy is issued by Sanitas: the network, the Mi Sanitas app, video consultation and the other services are those of your Sanitas plan. The price starts from the Sanitas rate and with us you never pay more. When you sign up with the office we always apply the best price guaranteed. And we look after you before and after you sign up: at Oficina Sanitas Majadahonda (an exclusive Sanitas agency in the Community of Madrid) you have a named person who helps you with authorisations, bills, adding family members or the renewal, and who calls you when something needs sorting out with Sanitas. What's more, it is the only Sanitas office in Spain that serves clients in 8 languages (sanitas.es office finder, 6 October 2026).

Do Sanitas Mayores and Fundación Sanitas have anything to do with my health insurance?

They are part of the same group, but they are separate. Your health insurance is from Sanitas Seguros; Sanitas Mayores is the line of care homes, day centres and home care, which is taken out separately; and Fundación Sanitas (created in 1996) is a non-profit organisation devoted to social projects, inclusive sport and awards for medical and nursing training. They appear on our Sanitas in figures page because they complete the picture of the company, not because they are part of your health policy.

Where do these Sanitas figures come from and how often do you update them?

From Sanitas, always. Most come from Sanitas's information of September 2026 for the 2027 renewal campaign. Its results release of 9 April 2026 provides the digital consultations, the turnover and the workforce for 2025 and the own centres at the end of that year. The own and partner centres figure comes from its medical network finder on sanitas.es (consulted on 13 October 2026). The rest comes from its public pages, which we link at the end of the article. When Sanitas releases new figures, we will update the whole page at once, with the date of the change, so that data from two different moments never sit side by side without their date.
