We checked the addresses and opening hours of the Sanitas centres on their websites on 14 October 2026. The partner hospitals and centres and the priority appointment agreements come from Sanitas's information for its 2027 renewal campaign (September 2026). The medical directory changes during the year: before you go, confirm it in the Mi Sanitas app or with us.

Sanitas's own medical centre is in Málaga city (Calle Villanueva del Rosario)

Think of someone in Teatinos who is due a gynaecological check-up with a mammogram and an ultrasound requested by their gastroenterologist. They can do it all in the same place. Centro Médico Sanitas Málaga is at number 11 Calle Villanueva del Rosario. It brings together fifteen consulting rooms, a day-surgery operating theatre with a recovery area, an endoscopy suite and a day hospital. For diagnostic imaging it has MRI, a mammography unit with tomosynthesis, ultrasound and conventional radiology.

It is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 21:00. General medicine is seen without an appointment from 8:00 to 21:00 and laboratory tests from 7:30 to 17:00. Specialists are by appointment, booked by chat, on 951 17 80 95 or from Mi Sanitas. It has its own car park with 54 spaces, two of them reserved for people with disabilities and two with chargers for electric cars. It is also certified for quality (ISO 9001), environmental management (ISO 14001), carbon footprint (ISO 14064) and universal accessibility (UNE 170001). The accessibility is something you appreciate if you are accompanying an older person.

Hospitals for admissions and operations from Nerja to Estepona

In Málaga, admissions and hospital emergencies go through a broad partner network. Sanitas's September 2026 information sorts them by group. From Quirónsalud there are its hospitals in Málaga and Marbella and its centre in Fuengirola. From Vithas there are Vithas Málaga and Vithas Xanit in Benalmádena. Vithas also has centres in Málaga city, Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Estepona. From HM there are HM Santa Elena in Torremolinos, HM Málaga and HM Gálvez. They are joined by Hospital Recoletas Marbella, Hospital Ochoa, HC International Hospital and Hospiten Estepona. Dozens of clinics, the Synlab laboratories and GenesisCare radiotherapy complete the network.

The practical thing is to choose by distance. In the Axarquía there are partner centres in Rincón de la Victoria, Torre del Mar, Nerja, Torrox and Vélez-Málaga. Between Marbella and Estepona there are several hospitals from the list, and San Pedro Alcántara also has partner clinics. Inland there are centres in Antequera, Ronda, Coín, Alhaurín de la Torre and the Guadalhorce valley. At the centres in the medical directory you show the digital card in the app and you don't pay for the care upfront. Want to know before an operation which hospital near your home performs it? Priority appointments in Málaga city and around Marbella

On top of the general directory, Sanitas has priority appointment agreements with some centres in the province. In and around Málaga, HM Santa Elena and HM Málaga give Sanitas clients priority appointments in cardiology, urology and general surgery. Centro Médico San Juan de la Cruz in Málaga and Clínica RV in Benalmádena give them in dermatology. Clínicas Vitali Salud has an agreement in dermatology and cardiology.

Around Marbella, Clínica Premium Marbella gives priority appointments in sixteen specialties: from allergy and gynaecology to orthopaedics and imaging tests. It also offers continuous medical care Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 21:00. Hospital Ochoa gives priority appointments at its outpatient clinics. In La Cala de Mijas, Interklinic gives them in a dozen specialties. They include paediatrics and psychology. How much shorter the wait is depends on each centre's schedule. Say you are with Sanitas when you book, and tell us if anything doesn't add up.

If you are admitted: a private room and mental health

In the Más Salud range and in Residents, the general terms and conditions provide for a private room with a bed for a companion when you stay overnight in hospital. The exceptions are the ICU, incubators and psychiatric admissions. A planned admission needs a prescription from a doctor in the directory and prior authorisation from Sanitas. Ask us for it on WhatsApp and we process it with you. Ask us too what else your hospital offers during your stay.

For mental health there are three partner psychiatric hospitals in the province: Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, San Juan de Dios and San Francisco de Asís. In the Más Salud range, the 2026 general terms and conditions cover psychiatric admission with an overnight stay for the treatment of acute episodes for up to 50 days per insured person per year. For 2027 Sanitas raises that limit to 60 days a year, and day-hospital days also count towards it. The increase applies if it appears in the latest version of your policy's terms and conditions, and within its limits and exclusions. Emergencies, a doctor at home and the dentist on the Costa del Sol

A high fever in the middle of the night in Fuengirola and you can't leave the house. For that case the policy covers urgent care at home by a family doctor or a nurse wherever Sanitas has the service under contract. Málaga is also one of the provinces where you can already follow, from the Mi Sanitas app, the emergency doctor and the emergency ambulance on their way to your home. For most call-outs you see in real time where they are and when they will arrive. Sanitas will gradually extend this to the other provinces. For anything that can be resolved without leaving home you have Blua's 24-hour emergency service by video, phone or chat.

For the dentist there are eight Sanitas Milenium clinics in the province. Four are in Málaga city (Jovellanos, Los Patios, Malagueta and Teatinos). The other four are in Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella and Estepona. There you use the dental cover included in Más Salud and the Dental Milenium and Dental Premium insurance plans. All of them are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 21:00. Jovellanos, Los Patios, Teatinos and Marbella also open on Saturdays, with different hours.

If you come from another country: six months a year and visa insurance

Many residents of the Costa del Sol came from other countries and ask us whether they can have Spanish insurance even if they spend part of the year away. The general terms and conditions are clear: a Sanitas policy ends if you move your residence abroad or if you do not live in Spain for at least six months a year. If you live here most of the year, you take out the same range as anyone from Málaga. Más Salud is taken out with a health questionnaire and up to age 75. If you only spend the winter here, tell us beforehand and we will find what fits.

Anyone moving to Marbella, Mijas or Nerja with non-lucrative residence needs insurance with no copays and no waiting periods. That is what Sanitas Residents Visado is for: it has no waiting periods or copays, includes repatriation and can be taken out up to age 75 and up to six months in advance. Sanitas issues the certificate for the consulate or the immigration office (Extranjería) in under 24 hours, guaranteed (up to 48 hours if there are pre-existing conditions or you pay by bank transfer). Seville in brief: two own centres and help for inpatients

If you split your life between Málaga and Seville, there you have two Sanitas own medical centres: Centro Médico Sanitas La Buhaira and Centro Médico Sanitas Sevilla (Calle Pagés del Corro). Both offer walk-in general medicine Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 21:00. The Pagés del Corro centre adds day surgery, MRI and sleep studies. In Seville Sanitas also offers remote dermatology diagnosis: the client sends a photo of the skin problem and a professional assesses it and uploads the report.

For hospital stays, Hospital San Juan de Dios in Seville assigns admitted Sanitas clients a patient manager who accompanies them and speeds up their appointments for consultations and tests. It also includes meals for the companion and free parking. Hospital Vithas Nisa offers inpatients meals for the companion, wifi and free parking.

How to sign up from Málaga with an office in Majadahonda

Oficina Sanitas Majadahonda is an exclusive Sanitas agency in the Community of Madrid. Many of our clients have never set foot in the office. From Málaga you work out your price with your postcode and message us on WhatsApp or ask us to call you. We finalise it by phone or video call. With complete paperwork, sign-up usually takes under 12 hours and often happens within the hour. It can take longer if there is a health declaration or the payment is pending. We start from the Sanitas rate and when you sign up with us we always apply the best price guaranteed: you never pay more. Afterwards you have the same person for an authorisation, adding a baby or the certificate to renew your TIE.

Coming from another insurer that operates in Spain? Ask us about having your waiting periods waived. It is requested from Sanitas when you sign up and the company decides. You need to have been on the previous policy for at least a year and to move from one to the other without a break. It does not apply with insurance from another country. Childbirth and bariatric surgery always keep their waiting period. If you are moving from another province, recalculate the price with your new postcode before deciding anything.

Does Sanitas have its own hospital in Málaga?

No. Sanitas's five own hospitals are in Madrid and Barcelona. In Málaga the own network is Centro Médico Sanitas Málaga, and admissions take place in partner hospitals of Quirónsalud, Vithas, HM and other groups. Day to day the difference is small. At a centre in the medical directory you show the card in the app and Sanitas pays the centre directly. You don't pay for the care upfront or claim back invoices.

I live in Madrid and spend the summers in Marbella. Does my policy work there?

Yes. The Sanitas medical directory covers all of Spain and in Marbella you use the partner centres on the Costa del Sol with the same card. You book appointments in the app and you have urgent home care wherever Sanitas has the service under contract. Spending the summer there does not change the address on your policy. The premium is calculated by the province where you live. If one day you stay on to live in Málaga, let us know: the general terms and conditions require you to report any change of address.

And if I have a serious emergency and am taken to a hospital that isn't with Sanitas?

In a life-threatening emergency the first thing is to be treated at the nearest hospital. The general terms and conditions ask you to notify Sanitas of that admission as soon as possible, so that it can move you to a partner centre as soon as your clinical condition allows. Call the phone number on your card or message us on WhatsApp at +34 655 02 69 85 and we will take care of notifying them. Outside life-threatening emergencies, medical directory policies such as Más Salud cover care at the centres in the Sanitas network. To be able to choose outside it as well, there are reimbursement plans such as Más 90.000.

How much does Sanitas cost in Málaga?

It depends on the age of each insured person, the plan (with or without copays) and how many people are on the policy. Sanitas also sets its rates by province. In the 2026 rates Málaga does not share prices with Madrid or Seville. That's why you shouldn't go by what someone pays in another city. In the calculator you enter your postcode and your date of birth and you have your price in a minute. With us you never pay more than the Sanitas rate and we always apply the best price guaranteed.

Can I sign up from my country before moving to the Costa del Sol?

Yes. Everything is done remotely. If the insurance is for the visa, the usual thing is to have it done before you travel: Sanitas Residents Visado can be taken out up to six months in advance. We prepare the quote and the Sanitas application for you. You sign it and send it to us with your passport. With Residents you can pay by card or by bank transfer even if you don't have a Spanish bank account yet. In the rest of the range the premium is paid by direct debit from an account in Spain or in another SEPA country. When you arrive you will have the card in the Mi Sanitas app and your adviser on the other end of WhatsApp. They will look after you in your language if it is one of the eight we work in.

If I live in Málaga, can I have surgery in Madrid or Seville?

Yes. Your policy is valid throughout the Sanitas medical directory in Spain. You can have surgery at a partner hospital in Seville or at one of Sanitas's own hospitals in Madrid such as La Zarzuela or La Moraleja. Authorisation is requested the same way as in Málaga. For neurosurgery, cardiac surgery and spinal surgery the general terms and conditions provide that Sanitas designates the centre and the team in advance. To stay overnight in hospital you need a policy with hospitalisation such as Más Salud. Avanza does not include it. Travel and accommodation are at your own expense: the general terms and conditions exclude travel expenses, except the ambulance costs the policy provides for.
